Discography
Intervertebral discs represent the cushion-like substance that sits in between the vertebrae (bone) and serves as a shock absorber for the spine. The intervertebral disc can often by a source of pain. Discography describes a specialized procedure that can be used to identify and potentially treat the painful disc. Once the painful disc is identified, a minimally invasive treatment plan can be designed to decrease the pain.
How It Helps
A discography is effective as a diagnostic tool to help elucidate the pain generator. One option to help heal a degenerated disc involves introducing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the disc. This can be done at the time of discography.
